By 1930 the Spanish artist Salvador Dali had become a notorious figure of the Surrealist movement. He was known for his colourful personality as well as his art. Dali became fascinated by furniture having met the acclaimed Parisian furniture and decorator Jean-Michel Frank. Dali once said 'art should fill all aspects of life'. Dali and Frank collaborated to design a number of pieces of furniture, later designing lighting and famous silver-gilt cutlery set in 1957 named 'Menagera. 

The set comprises of two forks, two knives, two large spoons and one small spoon all named like the works of art that they are.
